Washington Area Animal Adoption Group (WAAAG) is an all-volunteer animal rescue nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of Delaplane, VA, next to Barrel Oak Winery. We are dedicated to improving the lives of our furry friends. The WAAAG concept of offering a healing "timeout" for often abused, neglected and abandoned shelter animals is unique and well thought out.

We take in dogs & cats from overcrowded shelters. In addition to vet care, our animals receive lots of unconditional love, rest & relaxation to help them recover from what they have been through.

WAAAG dogs stay in
climate controlled cabins where have their own rooms & access to their own covered porch, kennel run & play yard. Peace & Tranquility help the dogs heal emotionally & prepare for their forever home. WAAAG animals enjoy peaceful walks through grassy fields & along meandering creeks next to large trees.

WAAAG is worth your consideration and your support!

Meet one of our sweet pups… Leila
Border Collie, Lab mix, female, spayed, around 3 years old.
FullSizeRender-2 FullSizeRender

Leila is a wonderful little girl. She and her puppies were rescued during the floods in NC earlier this year. After all of Leila's puppies were adopted she was transported to NoVA. At about 2 yrs young she has a beautiful sleek and shiny coat. Leila is full of the typical energy of a border collie - its like she has springs on her feet! She loves to play ball and zooms about her yard. She is terrific on leash and is eager to please. She is a little timid with new people at first. Give her treats and she will give shy little kisses, run away and then come back for more. This is her way of getting to know you. She loves affection and just wants to be close to you. Leila has been very sweet with children and appears to be dog friendly, wagging her tail and trying to get close. She is a little curious about cats, but has shown no aggression.
As Leila will require exercise to keep her happy, she will make a wonderful pet for an active single person or family. Are you ready to bring our joyful Leila into your life?

Meet our other animals…

Waggin' Tails

Buddy Tiara

Sweet Buddy had been bounced around from shelter to shelter for 5 years! He had mange & was very depressed. We took him in, gave him medicated baths every three days & lots of unconditional love. When he was ready, we placed him in a home where he goes to work everyday with his mom & he plays hide & seek with his 4 year old sister. She also likes to dress him up like a princess, he doesn’t mind. These two are best friends!

Taylor & her puppy, Tess…

Taylor & her 5 puppies came to WAAAG from an overcrowded shelter in WV. Tess, one of her puppies, was sick and didn’t want to leave her mom’s side. Tess had to spend time at the emergency Vet and receive plasma transfusions. She was a fighter & she bounced back fast. Her siblings found homes right away, however, Taylor & Tess remained at WAAAG for a few months. Fortunately, a loving family adopted them together. It was a perfect new beginning for mother & daughter.

Beauty came to us because she was having a tough time adjusting to shelter life. She was very anxious. Through no fault of her own she had been adopted & returned twice. She came to WAAAG where she was able to run, play, be a puppy & learn appropriate behavior. A couple with an older Coon Hound fell in love with her and adopted her. Roscoe, her calm big brother, is helping her learn to interact with the world around her.
